大作文--语言消失

Every year several languages die out. Some people think that this is not important because life will be easier if there are fewer languages in the world. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

As immense/giant world shrinks into a small village, the dramatic/ drastic power of globalization is eliminating/ mopping off/ wipe out/ our cultural diversity in many aspects/ fields/ domains/ regards, including our tongues: numerous languages and dialects of minority nationalities/aboriginal areas have died out, and many others are struggling desperately/ disappointingly in the wave of “world language”. Though some believe it is of little importance, this phenomenon is actually a cultural disaster.

A language means much more than 不仅仅/no more than 仅仅saying “hello”; it carries its own inherent/inner/interior/internal aesthetic审美 values which can be expressed by no other句尾否定. In ancient Chinese poems and couplets/calligraphy/ ceramic arts/ embroidery/ seal/ jade sculpture/marshal art/ , for example, each line shows its own lexical beauty, and lines are skillfully fused into融入 a cohesive whole with pleasing sound pattern. These unique characters make it extremely difficult, if not impossible/ if possible, to translate those Chinese classics in any other language. If the language disappeared, the charm of Chinese culture could be appreciated no more. This applies to all cultures: all the epics, legends and folk songs of a particular nation would all go with its vanishing language, which is great loss of human civilization.

A language can also serve in many other ways, e.g./vice versa/etc./ status quo

现状/ history study. Historians rely much on the written record of a nation to trace its past and show us what the world used to be. Unfortunately, archaeologists have met too many dead ends on their ways due to the loss of old languages. The study of ancient Egypt once puzzled the world for many centuries largely because Romans drove away Egyptian priests who monopolized written language education at that time after they occupied the land. By contrast, in my country, we can easily read about our ancestors over 2000 years ago because the historical course of Chinese language is left intact. That is to say, the disappearance of a language refers to a blank in the jigsaw拼图 of world history. Once it is gone, it can never be fixed.

For conclusion, the language diversity of human society deserves equal attention as what we do for species diversity of the nature. The vanishing of languages every year may make little difference on our daily life as individuals, but it truly affects human civilization as a whole and the harm is irrecoverable. Therefore, drastic action must be taken for language preservation to make sure that our descendants can still enjoy and make good use of these treasures.
