A Picnic Invitation

Hi! My name is Jamie and I'm in the fourth grade. I wanted to invite you to a really fun picnic my family is having this weekend! We're going to Oakwood Park on Saturday and I think it's going to be the best picnic ever.

First of all, Oakwood Park is so beautiful, especially in the spring when all the trees and flowers are blooming. There's a huge grassy area that's perfect for setting up picnic blankets and playing games like frisbee or tag. I love running around in the open field and getting some fresh air. The park also has a little stream that runs through it with cute ducks swimming around. My little brother loves feeding the ducks bread crumbs when we go there.

Speaking of food, my mom is making all of our favorite picnic dishes! She's packing fried chicken, potato salad, deviled eggs, and her famous chocolate chip cookies for dessert. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We'll also bring lemonade, iced tea, and maybe some juice boxes. I get so hungry from playing outside that I can't wait to dig into all the yummy food.

There are also lots of fun activities we can do at the picnic. My dad is bringing a baseball, basketball, and a soccer ball so we can split into teams and play some casual sports games. I'm a pretty good pitcher in baseball, but my little sister is amazing at dribbling the soccer ball. We can get the whole family involved! My mom also bought a couple of frisbees and a jump rope for running around. And at the end of the day, we can fly a kite if it's not too windy.

The best part about picnics is that they give us a chance to spend quality time together as a family. Nowadays, it seems like everyone is always busy with work, school, activities, and staring at their phones and tablets. But at a picnic, we can unplug, relax, and actually talk and laugh together. I look forward to hearing my dad's corny jokes and seeing my mom smile. Even if my brother and sister drive me crazy sometimes, I'll admit it's fun to hang out with them outside of the house for a change.
